Volunteer Opportunity Terms & Conditions
At Guru Nanak Food Bank, we value the dedication and commitment of our volunteers. By volunteering with us, you agree to the following terms and conditions:
- Volunteer Status:
- Volunteering is a non-paid position. No salary, wages, or benefits (including EI, CPP, or WCB coverage) will be provided.
- Volunteers are not considered employees or contractors of Guru Nanak Food Bank.
- Volunteer should have a valid Legal Status in Canada. (Citizen,P.R, Work or Student Permit )
- Age & Eligibility:
- Volunteers must be 14 years of age or older.
- Volunteers under 18 require signed parental/guardian consent.
- All volunteers must provide accurate personal information and emergency contact details.
- Health & Safety:
- Volunteers must comply with all WorkSafeBC safety standards and follow GNFB's safety policies at all times.
- Closed-toe shoes, appropriate clothing, and personal protective equipment (if provided) must be worn during shifts.
- Volunteers must immediately report any injuries, unsafe conditions, or incidents to their supervisor.
- Code of Conduct:
- Volunteers are expected to act respectfully, professionally, and with compassion toward clients, staff, and other volunteers.
- Discrimination, harassment, or inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated.
- Confidentiality must be maintained regarding client information and internal operations.
- Scheduling & Commitment:
- Volunteer schedules are flexible and subject to GNFB's operational needs.
- Volunteers must notify their supervisor if unable to attend a scheduled shift.
- Repeated absences without notice may result in removal from the volunteer roster.
- Liability & Insurance:
- Guru Nanak Food Bank maintains general liability insurance; however, volunteers are encouraged to have their own extended health/insurance coverage.
- GNFB is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal belongings.
- Confidentiality & Privacy:
- Volunteers must not share any personal information of clients, donors, or other volunteers outside of GNFB.
- All collected volunteer information will be handled in accordance with BC's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).
- Termination of Volunteer Service
- GNFB reserves the right to end a volunteer's service at any time if these terms are not respected or if the role is no longer required.
- Volunteers may also choose to end their service at any time by notifying GNFB.
- Acknowledgement: By signing the Volunteer Registration Form, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to abide by these Terms & Conditions.
