How Volunteer Verification Works

Steps to complete Criminal Record Check (CRC) and get scheduled

Create Your Volunteer Profile

Sign up and complete your profile with accurate details so we can start your verification process.

Download CRC Request Letter (Not required if you are in high school or below in Canada)

Download the official CRC request letter provided in your portal after your profile is created.

Visit Police Station for CRC (Not required if you are in high school or below in Canada)

Take the CRC request letter to your local police station. Once received, upload your CRC in your portal.

In-Person Verification

All volunteers must visit in person and present a valid government-issued photo ID. If applicable, you must also show your original CRC.

Admin Review & Approval

Our team will review your submitted CRC and approve your volunteer account within 7 days.

Scheduling After Approval

After your profile is complete and approved, the admin will create your schedule in the system.

Note: Volunteers who are in high school or below in Canada are not required to complete the CRC steps

You can apply by creating a volunteer profile through our online portal and completing the required verification steps.

Volunteers must be 16 years or older. Volunteers under 16 may participate only when accompanied by a parent or guardian and with consent.

Yes.
  • Under 16 years: Parent/guardian consent is required
  • Ages 16-17: Parent/guardian consent is recommended
  • 18 years and older: No consent is required
No. A Criminal Record Check (CRC) is required only for volunteers who are not in high school or below in Canada.
Volunteers who are currently in high school or below in Canada are exempt from the CRC requirement.
Yes. All volunteers must visit in person and present a valid government-issued photo ID. If applicable, the original CRC must also be shown.
No. Individuals who are current GNFB clients are not eligible to volunteer.
No. Guru Nanak Food Bank does not accept court-ordered or mandatory community service hours.
Once all required steps are completed, the review and approval process typically takes up to 7 days.
Yes. We provide volunteer certificates and reference letters based on eligibility, completed hours, and participation.
