Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Guru Nanak Food Bank. To better support new volunteers, we accept applications during a designated window each month. If you're visiting outside this period, we appreciate your understanding and invite you to check back shortly.
- You are not applying for court-ordered volunteer hours
- You are willing to complete a Criminal Record Check (CRC), if you are not in high school or below in Canada
- You are not a current Guru Nanak Food Bank recipient
- Support the GNFB's mission of providing healthy food to those in need

We are pleased to welcome corporate groups and schools to volunteer at Guru Nanak Food Bank. Groups of 5-10 participants are invited to assist with sorting and distributing food.

How Volunteer Verification Works
Steps to complete Criminal Record Check (CRC) and get scheduled
Create Your Volunteer Profile
Sign up and complete your profile with accurate details so we can start your verification process.
Download CRC Request Letter (Not required if you are in high school or below in Canada)
Download the official CRC request letter provided in your portal after your profile is created.
Visit Police Station for CRC (Not required if you are in high school or below in Canada)
Take the CRC request letter to your local police station. Once received, upload your CRC in your portal.
In-Person Verification
In-person verification required with two photo IDs. CRC if applicable. Parent/Guardian Consent form required for volunteers under 16.
Admin Review & Approval
Our team will review your submitted CRC and approve your volunteer account within 7 days.
Scheduling After Approval
After your profile is complete and approved, the admin will create your schedule in the system.
Note: Volunteers who are in high school or below in Canada are not required to complete the CRC steps
Frequently Asked Questions
You can apply by creating a volunteer profile through our online portal and completing the required verification steps.
Volunteers must be 16 years or older. Volunteers under 16 may participate only when accompanied by a parent or guardian and with consent.
- Under 16 years: Parent/guardian consent is required
- Ages 16-17: Parent/guardian consent is recommended
- 18 years and older: No consent is required
